Hello All, I have a quick question. I’m working to increase my understanding of agile metrics. I’ve noticed there are a number of them. Please, may you share your thoughts on the best metrics to use outside of the burn down chart and velocity to answer a stakeholder’s question of “when will it be done?”. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with me. If you are able to slide an example in there that would be great too😆

“When will it be done”? can be a tricky thing to answer. The answer to this question should be in the form of, “The team agrees that this work item (Story/ticket/epic) can be done during the following period (date range) with X% confidence, from what we know so far”. Even trying to understand this statement needs a lot of investment in Kanban as a concept and then going into the metrics and various laws which is covered in https://www.amazon.com/When-Will-Done-Lean-Agile-Forecasting/dp/0986436372

Probabilistic Forecasting is the way to go.

Agreed with this. I wrote a little bit in more detail about this idea: https://www.ccpace.com/blog/can-your-agile-forecast-look-more-like-a-weather-forecast
