• The Ghost Town

“Is it just me, or is applying for jobs lately like shouting into a dark, empty room?

You spend two hours on an application, hit ‘Submit,’ and then… nothing. Not even a ‘No thanks.’ Just digital silence.”

We’ve all been there. You see a job post that feels like it was written specifically for you. You polish your resume, write a cover letter that actually sounds like a human wrote it, and wait. One week passes. Two. Suddenly, the job posting vanishes, and your application status still says “Received.”

It’s exhausting. It makes you feel invisible, like your hard work doesn’t even deserve a canned response.

But here’s the truth: The “Apply” button is the most crowded door in the building. When a job goes live, 500 people hit that button in the first hour. If you’re just another PDF in a pile of 500, the “Ghosting” isn’t personal, it’s just bad math.

If you want to stop being a ghost, you have to stop acting like a ghost. You need to leave a “digital footprint” that proves you’re a real person.

      Try this “Human-First” tweak today:

      • The “About” Section Revamp: Most people’s “About” section reads like a boring manual. Change the first sentence.
      • Old way: “Result-oriented professional with 8 years of experience in logistics…” (Zzzzz.)
      • The New way: “I’m the person who makes sure the trucks actually show up on time when the system crashes. I love solving the puzzles that keep a warehouse moving.”
      • Why it works: Recruiters are people. They are bored too. When they see a bit of personality, they stop scrolling.

Don’t apply for a new job today. Instead, find one person who works at a company you actually like. Don’t ask them for a job. Just send this 1-sentence message:

“Hi [Name], I saw your post about [Recent Company Project/Topic]. I’ve worked in this field for a while and really admired how your team handled [Specific Detail]. Great work!

That’s it. No “Hire me.” No “Can we talk?” You’re just proving you exist.

You’ll be surprised how many ghosts come back to life when you treat them like humans first.

      • Most people underestimate how far a simple, thoughtful message can go when there’s no hidden agenda attached.
Good reminder that standing out doesn’t always mean doing more, sometimes it just means doing things differently.
