Every Girl Shines connects middle and high school girls with positive female role models who help them build confidence, strengthen their leadership abilities, prepare for future opportunities, and recognize the light they already carry.
Through mentorship, personal development, educational support, community service, and meaningful group experiences, girls gain trusted relationships and a community that believes in who they are becoming.
Who We Are
Every Girl Shines is a mentoring and leadership-development organization focused on helping middle and high school girls grow into confident, caring, and capable young women.
The organization began in 2008 through the vision of founder Carrisa Jones. While serving as a Youth Director at her church, Carrisa recognized that young women in her community needed a dependable support network where they could learn, grow, and encourage one another.
Together with Melva Robertson, she created Angels Ministry, which later became Every Girl Shines.
Today, Every Girl Shines pairs girls, known within the organization as Stars, with professional women who provide positive guidance, encouragement, and consistent support.
Stars participate in mentorship, leadership workshops, educational activities, community-service projects, college preparation, social experiences, and events designed to support their personal growth.
Every Girl Shines currently serves communities through branches in Atlanta, Georgia; Daytona Beach, Florida; and Seattle, Washington. A fourth branch is scheduled to open in Marietta, Georgia, in September 2026 through a partnership with Elizabeth Baptist Church.
Our Mission
Our mission is to develop middle and high school girls by connecting them with strong female role models who help them learn how to love, lead, and live with confidence and purpose.
We create supportive relationships and enriching experiences that help girls strengthen their self-esteem, recognize their abilities, make thoughtful choices, prepare for educational opportunities, serve their communities, and become positive leaders.
Every Star deserves a trusted person who listens, a community that encourages her, and opportunities that help her see what is possible.
What We Do, and Who It's For
Every Girl Shines provides a supportive mentoring community where middle and high school girls can form lasting relationships with professional women who care about their growth.
We serve girls who want positive guidance, stronger confidence, leadership experience, educational preparation, community involvement, and a place where they can connect with encouraging peers and adults.
Our work also includes parents and guardians who want dependable support for their daughters, professional women prepared to serve as mentors, volunteers willing to share their time and abilities, and organizations interested in supporting girls through partnerships and sponsorships.
Stars and mentors participate in an annual program of leadership workshops, community-service projects, college-preparation activities, mentor gatherings, celebrations, educational experiences, and branch events.
The organization’s values of Loving, Leading, and Living guide every activity.
Loving teaches girls to value themselves and care for others. Leading helps them build confidence, responsibility, and the ability to influence their communities positively. Living encourages them to experience life fully, make healthy choices, and grow into the women they are capable of becoming.

Mentorship and Positive Role Models
A dependable mentor can help a girl feel heard, understood, encouraged, and supported.
Every Girl Shines connects middle and high school girls with professional women who provide positive guidance and model confidence, leadership, responsibility, compassion, and perseverance.
Mentors listen to their Stars, encourage personal growth, celebrate progress, and help girls work through questions and challenges as they prepare for adulthood.

Leadership and Personal Development
Every Girl Shines helps girls develop the confidence and practical abilities needed to lead in school, at home, in their communities, and in future professional settings.
Leadership programs include the LeaderSHINE Summit, workshops, guest speakers, group discussions, interactive sessions, vision-board activities, and opportunities to practise communication and teamwork.
Stars are encouraged to understand their strengths, speak with confidence, build healthy self-esteem, make thoughtful decisions, and recognize how their choices can affect others.
College Preparation and Scholarship Support
Preparing for life after high school requires information, encouragement, and access to useful resources.
Every Girl Shines supports Stars through college tours, application guidance, résumé preparation, scholarship information, financial-aid education, and conversations about student life and campus organizations.
The organization also awards scholarships to graduating Stars and has worked with partners to provide laptops to students preparing for college.
These opportunities help Stars approach graduation with greater clarity, confidence, and practical preparation for their next stage of education.
Community Service and Enrichment
Every Girl Shines gives Stars opportunities to serve others, experience new environments, form friendships, and enjoy positive activities outside their normal routines.
Stars, mentors, and volunteers participate in food, coat, backpack, and holiday-toy drives, as well as community projects, sports activities, college visits, celebrations, fundraisers, and branch events.
Community service reflects the organization’s value of Loving Others. Enrichment activities allow girls to explore their interests, build relationships, enjoy meaningful experiences, and develop a stronger connection to their communities.
